Gladys Stone Jones, a resident of Greenville, passed on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from Hudson Funeral Service Chapel, Greenville. Rev. Gary Reed officiated. Military burial followed in Mt. Ida Annex with Hudson Funeral Services directing.
Mr. Jones leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Kate (Johnny) Silmon and Joyce Jones; stepdaughters, Dorothy Mack, Annie Steele and Mary Bargainer; his devoted sisters, Bernice Johnson and Diana (Willie) Poole; his brothers, Leroy (Genevieve) Lipkins, and Jimmy (Jean Helen) Lipkins; uncles, John Henry Porter and Willie G. Lipkins; aunts, Willie Mae McDowell and Lucille (Willie) Mullins; grandchildren, Edna Frank, Tracy Steele,
Gregory Cook, Charles Loveless, Arlene Purdue, Georgia Scott, Shelby Banks, Stacey Cheatham, Stephanie Burnette, Rhonda Spivey, Patrick Hill, Marcus Jones, Terrance Hardy, Chasity Bowen and Mallory Jones-Robinson; 35 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Pearl Scott; parents, Lurleen Lipkin and Isaiah Jones, only son, Victor Jones, sister, Annie Laura Lipkin; 2 stepchildren, Ollie Yelder, Mary Goldsmith and stepfather, Bert Lipkin.
