Lt. Col. Bobby Gray Vinson (Ret.) a resident of Greenville, died Wed., Dec. 24, 2014, at L.V. Stabler Hospital.

Col. Vinson was 87 years old. He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and was the Senior-Junior ROTC instructor at Greenville High School from 1972 until his retirement.

Col. Vinson was preceded in death by his wife, Ellanette Lockhart Vinson.

The family received friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home on the day of the funeral service, which was held today, Sat., Dec. 27, 2014, 2 p.m. from the Chapel of

Col. Vinson is survived by his two daughters, Kathryn V. Duncan (Riley Clifford) of Midland, Ga. and Jane V. Fletcher (Alan) of Enterprise; son, David Gray Vinson (Wendy) of Greenville; six grandchildren, Kathryn L. Thompson (Brandon), Carolyn D. Rowell (Jonathan), Heather C. Davis (Britt), Michael Gray Cumbie, Harper P. Vinson and Gray McNeil Vinson; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Donald Haywood Oswald

Master Sgt. Donald Haywood Oswald (Ret.), age 67, a resident of Greenville, died on Fri., Dec. 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 30, 2014, in the chapel of Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Fulford officiating and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Oswald was preceded in death by his parents, Zell Haywood and Winnie Dean Oswald.

He is survived by two sons, Donald Scott Oswald (Autumn) Cantonment, Fla. and Charles Bryan Mathews (Tiffany) of Montgomery; nine grandchildren, Nathan Scott Oswald, Emily Catherine Oswald and Matthew Brent Oswald, all of Cantonment, Fla., Morgan Taylor Mathews of Columbia, S.C., Ariana Richelle Lopez of Chicago, Ill., Sierra Kaline Lopez of Round Rock, Texas, Connor Bryan Mathews of Millbrook and Chloe Jane Mathews and Quinley Briane Mathews of Montgomery; brother, Vaughn Oswald of Montgomery; sister, Diane Braden of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.
