Scholarship board seeks applicants
The “Miss Elizabeth” D. Leckie Scholarship Board of Trustees welcomes qualified applicants to apply for its scholarships. The Leckie Scholarships are given annually to deserving Butler County students in hopes they will see the advantages of returning to Butler County to live and work after they complete their education.
The scholarship was established in memory of Elizabeth D. Leckie, a former Butler County resident and long-time W.O. Parmer teacher.
The number and amount of scholarships varies from year to year on the basis of need and the applicant’s academic achievement.
The rules and regulations governing the applicants for scholarships under the “Miss Elizabeth” D. Leckie Scholarship Fund require that neither relatives or friends of the applicant shall approach any member of the Board of Trustees regarding applicant’s selection other than the Secretary of the Board, who will at all times give you information regarding Scholarships when requested. Applicants, please know that this scholarship was established with the goal of assisting those with the greatest financial need. The board loves to see and interview a well-rounded and scholarly applicant, but their primary vision is to provide financial assistance to some of Butler County’s best who need it most.
For additional scholarship information, please contact Allen Peterson, secretary of the Board of Trustees, at (334) 371-1000 or stop by Community Neighbor Bank in Greenville.
