ARS takes Ritz stage Thursday
Hit makers with classic tunes such as “I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight” and “Imaginary Lover” will be bringing their sound to the Ritz Theatre this Thursday night as the Atlanta Rhythm Section takes the stage at 7 p.m., November 11.
Founded by a group of studio musicians who made up the house band for Studio One in Doraville, Ga., in the early 70s, ARS has often been mentioned in the same breath as southern rockers the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Sknyrd.
However, the group’s true sound is more of an infusion of rock, blues, and country with a mix of up-tempo songs and ballads that have won them a devoted regional following and a number of hits in the ’70s and early ’80s, including “So Into You” and “Spooky.”
Keyboardist Dean Daughtry, one of the original members of the group, will be joined by Andy Anderson, David Anderson, Jim Kelling, Justin Senker and Steve Stone on stage Thursday night at the Ritz.
“We are thrilled to have a well-known group like the Atlanta Rhythm Section coming to our town and we want to see more and more performances like this happen right here in Greenville,” said mayor Dexter McLendon. “I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy a fantastic concert Thursday night.”
Tickets are $15, $20 and $30 and are still available at the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce offices.
“Just give us a call at 382-3251 and if we need to, we’ll deliver the tickets to your office,” said CoC director Francine Wasden.
