Kimberly and Jeffrey Cowins, recent transplants from Maryland, celebrated the soft opening of The 19th Hole Cigar Lounge on June 19. The couple invited the Greenville community to explore their unique concept that combines fine cigars, high-end spirits, golf simulators and a relaxed atmosphere.
“The vibe in the cigar lounge is relaxed, mellow and chill,” Kimberly said. “We are not a club. We are a lounge, and we’re here for people to enjoy themselves. If they’ve had a long day and just need to ‘woosah,’…or if they want to come with their friends,… they can come and play a fun round or two of golf or some pool.”
A full-service liquor license is pending, but the Cowins have big plans for the venue.
“We will have fine liquors over there, very fine spirits,” Kimberly said. “We’re going to have your high-end scotches and whiskeys, …bourbons …and vodkas… Our intent is to expand that knowledge that people have right now and give them an experience. That is what the 19th Hole is all about.”
Jeffrey Cowins brings a deep knowledge of cigars to the business, hoping to offer more than just a product — but also an education.
“What I am hoping to do is bring my quote unquote knowledge in cigars and how to pair them with different scotches, different bourbons and bring an educational experience,” Jeffrey said. “We want to create an experience that Greenville has not had before.”
The Cowins also plan to partner with local eateries rather than serve food in-house.
“We do not serve but we will partner with our local eateries,” Kimberly said. “We have already spoken with about three or four of them, and we are going to set up a nice little run-and-grab or order-and-deliver type deal.”
The lounge will cater to sports fans, too.
“We’re hoping to get in on the football season,” Jeffrey said. “We have seven televisions… We just want to create a vibe and an atmosphere where people can come and enjoy themselves.”
The 19th Hole will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with regular hours Thursday and Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. and extended hours on Saturdays.
For the Cowins, The 19th Hole is more than a business — it’s about building community and offering a new kind of leisure space in Greenville. As Jeffrey summed it up: “If you’re sitting home and you really don’t have anywhere to go, just come hang out here with us at the 19th hole.”
