Crenshaw Christian Academy (CCA) head football coach and athletic director Brandon Burleson has announced he will join Greenville High School as assistant athletic director, running backs coach and varsity baseball coach.

Burleson, who took the helm at CCA in 2023, brings a wealth of experience to the Tigers’ athletic program.

“I have only good things to say about my time at CCA,” Burleson said. “I’m so grateful for the opportunities that Dr. [Eddie] Billings and the board afforded me to grow the sports program.”

Before his tenure at CCA, Burleson served as defensive coordinator for the McKenzie School Tigers. He also held roles as director of football operations and defensive line coach at W.S. Neal High School in Brewton, as well as defensive coordinator at Sparta Academy.

“I’m glad that I get to hand the [CCA} program off in a positive direction with Coach [Jonny] Mitchell coming in,” Burleson said. “He’s been a long time coach in the area and I have full confidence in his abilities. This was the right time for a change in my career and I get to leave CCA in good hands.”

Greenville High School Athletic Director Garrick Pimienta welcomed Burleson’s addition to the staff. “I’m excited,” Pimienta said. “He’s a native of Butler County and it’s great to have a guy that understands the kids and the area. He’s someone that the guys can look up to and model their behavior after.”

His return to Butler County marks a homecoming both personally and professionally.

“I’m excited to get started in Greenville,” Burleson said. “This was something Coach P (Pimienta) and I had talked about before I went to CCA. When the opportunity came back around, it felt like the right time to come home and share my love of sports with the community.”

Burleson is expected to begin his duties at GHS ahead of the fall sports season.
