Bradleys commemorate 50th anniversary

A Greenville couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently and were honored by high school classmates with the presentation declaring the proclamation of their love.

On May 4, Joseph, Sr. and Sharon Purifoy Bradley observed their 50th wedding anniversary and celebrated the occasion with friends at Beeland Park on May 17. Sharon is a graduate of Greenville High School (GHS) and on behalf of the Class of 1974, Lois Robinson presented the couple with a proclamation during the party and honored the longtime love the pair have shared

The proclamation illuminated the beginning of the Bradley’s which began during their high school years:

“Whereas, Joseph Bradley, Sr. and Sharon Purifoy, being high school sweethearts, loved each other so much they desired to enter into a lifetime commitment of togetherness; and 

“Whereas, on May 04, 1975, this couple solidified their desire for lifelong togetherness by entering into holy matrimony; and

Whereas, on May 04 this couple reached a major milestone in their marriage, that is hereby recognized and celebrated as a significant lifetime achievement;

Be It Known That the following are notable and honorable mentions achieved on this 50-year journey, but is by no means an all-exhaustive list of their accomplishments.”

Robinson highlighted how the Bradleys surrendered their lives to the Lord, Jesus Christ and were trail blazers in lighting the forever spark of love between the classes of 1973 and 1974 high school sweethearts.

“At this point on their journey, their union has produced three wonderful children, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one bonus son, one bonus daughter, one bonus grandson and three bonus granddaughters,” Robinson proclaimed. “They both had productive careers and now have entered into retirement to enjoy the fruits of their labor even as they continue to work in the Lord’s plentiful harvest.”

Classmates congratulated the couple, extending their wishes for continued happiness and wellness in the coming years.

“Finally, the Class of 1974 presents this resolution to salute and honor their lifelong commitment to each other and their family through past, present, and future storms of life ‘As you celebrate half a century of love, may your hearts be forever intertwined,’” the proclamation read.
