Winston O’ Neal English passed away peacefully surrounded by his family May 26 at the age of 75. He was born in Greenville on Aug. 29, 1949.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juliet Owens English and Yancey Zoma English and his sister Dorothy Jean Mitchell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra Jones English, daughters Elizabeth Renae Fowler (Cort) and Sandra Joanne Gautney. He was known as “Pa Neal” to his three precious grandchildren Winston Chandler Gautney, Cortez Earl Fowler III (Trey) and Abigail Elizabeth Fowler (Abby).

He loved the peace found in the country, walking through the woods, and riding his tractor or truck through green pastures and fields. He always enjoyed his morning cup of coffee while sitting on his porch. He enjoyed reading on his iPad, watching the news and researching stocks.

After graduating high school, he served in the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. He was a proud veteran. After returning home, he attended Reid Technical School and could pretty much fix anything that was broken. He worked many years at Rheem-Rudd and retired early from Key Safety to enjoy time on his farm. He never met a stranger, loved his family dearly and had a big, loud and happy laugh. He was strong, humble and had a positive and sensible attitude through all circumstances. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life was held at Dunklin Funeral Home in Greenville on Thursday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Visitation began at 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery. His pastor, Mike Moses, will be officiating. If you are able, wear something blue, his favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local Disabled American Veteran’s Chapter, or the American Cancer Society.
