Glinda Mullins Parmer, aged 77, of Greenville, departed this life on June 1, following an extended illness. Born on April 9, 1948, to Reverend Ralph Hamilton and Eloise Turner Mullins, Glinda’s Christian faith and deep familial roots were the foundations of her life.
Glinda graduated from Greenville High School in 1966, and her academic journey continued at the University of Montevallo, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in home economics education in 1970. Her commitment to education and personal development was evident when she returned to her alma mater to obtain her master’s degree in the same field in 1990.
Her professional career reflected her passion for education and homemaking. After a brief tenure at Georgiana School, Glinda dedicated seven years as a home economist with Alabama Power Company. Yet, her 25 years at Greenville High School defined her career. There, she imparted home economics, personal management, and childcare knowledge, inspiring generations of students to appreciate the joys of domestic arts and education.
Outside of the classroom, Glinda’s talents flourished. She was renowned for her exceptional baking, cake decorating, cooking, French hand sewing and smocking skills. Her delightful creations and warm presence made every gathering a cherished event. Music was also a special part of her life, as she enjoyed playing the piano and singing.
Family was the cornerstone of Glinda’s existence. She took immense pride in her daughters, Beth and Anna, celebrating their achievements and shared experiences at the same alma mater. Their successes reflect the values of education and perseverance that she and her husband, Sam, instilled in them.
Glinda is survived by her daughters, Beth Parmer and Anna Parmer Robertson (Eddie); grandsons Will Robertson, Jack Robertson and Sam Robertson; her sister, Allannah Mullins Tindal (David); sisters-in-law Ruby Parmer, Mary Parmer Head and Frances Parmer Gardner; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her parents, her sister-in-law Irene Parmer Cumbie and her beloved husband, Sam, preceded her in death.
In her final year, Glinda received compassionate care from the dedicated caregivers at Alpha and Omega Health Services and the hospice staff from Southern Care. Their unwavering support provided comfort and dignity to Glinda and her family during a challenging time.
Funeral services to honor Glinda’s memory will be held at the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home in Greenville on June 6, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend John Girdley officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service. Following the service, she will rest at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Greenville, carried by pallbearers Jacob Head, Jason Mullins, Kevin Mullins, Randall Mullins, Jeff Rogers and David Tindal.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Gravel Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund (Greenville), c/o The Baptist Foundation of Alabama, P.O. Box 241227, Montgomery, AL 36124, ensuring that Glinda’s final resting place remains a beautiful tribute to her life.
