The Butler County Farmers Market officially opened for the season on Saturday, May 17, at 791 Cedar Street in Greenville. Offering local shoppers, a fresh selection of homegrown produce and homemade goods, the market will operate Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until noon.
Assistant Market Manager Michelle Styron encourages early visits.
“Just because we’re open until noon doesn’t mean that there will still be anyone there,” Styron said. “Typically, once people sell out of what they thought for the day, they close up.”
This year’s market features a growing roster of 17 vendors, with items ranging from fruits and vegetables to breads, cookies, cakes, pecans, jams and jellies. While the space under the market awning is now full, Styron noted that additional vendors can still join the roster by obtaining the proper permit through the Butler County Extension Office and setting up their own booths.
