Albert Gary Miller was born on September 10, 1946, in Greenville. He was the fourth of six children raised on a family farm, where he enjoyed driving tractors and trucks before he had a license. He attended Central Elementary and graduated from Greenville High School, where he played football. After high school, Gary served in the United States Marine Corps and completed a tour in Vietnam.
After returning from Vietnam, Gary married his first wife, Gail, and earned a degree in Forest Engineering from Oregon State University in 1974. They had three children: Jennifer, Lyman and Miranda. Gary later transitioned into a career in real estate.
In 2017, Gary met his current wife, Angela, while working. They married in 2020 and held their ceremony in 2022 due to COVID. In 2023, they traveled to Peru to visit Angela’s family and see Machu Picchu — a highlight of their time together.
Gary loved Alabama football, fishing in the mountains — especially around Mammoth, cooking and barbequing, airplanes, and trains. He passed away on April 23, after a long battle with cancer, cared for by Angela throughout his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Mae Newton Miller and Obbie Earl Miller; sister Wanda Miller McClure; brother Phillip Miller; sister-in-law Francis Miller and brothers-in-law Walter McClure and Mike Blackmon.
He is survived by his wife Angela Miller; daughters Jennifer Miller and Miranda Miller (Roland Schulze); son Lyman Miller; brothers Ronnie Miller and Mike Miller (Lisa); sister Debbie Miller Blackmon; grandson Dante Miller Gutierrez; stepdaughter Angie Tantalean; and step-grandchildren Angelina Cisneros, Angel Cisneros and Adolfo Sagastume.
