Daniel E. Whiddon, age 77 of Midway, passed away peacefully at his home on April 28, surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 1, beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until service time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma Ruth and Oscar Riley Whiddon of Midway.
He is survived by his daughters, Danan Whiddon (Richard) and Dawn Whiddon Heartsill (Kevin); his grandchildren, Chloe Langston Young (Mitch), Sarah Langston (Aaron) and Whiddon Heartsill and his great-grandchildren River and Riley Young. Dan leaves behind his sister, Sue Steck (Harry), their kids Tamara and David (Holly) Steck and their children Brendan and Sierra.
Dan “The Man” was a Navy veteran, ACA Champion Bareback Rider, avid hunter, and amazing dad, grandfather, and great grandfather. After 33 years, he retired from Key Safety Systems (formerly Allied Signal). He spent many years breaking and training horses and teaching kids to ride. He was a rodeo judge for many high school and professional rodeos.
