The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles recently denied the parole petition of an inmate serving time for burglary in Butler County.
On April 16, the board voted to deny parole to Kevin Seal, 39. He is housed at the Ventress Correctional Center, serving a 12-year sentence for third-degree burglary handed down December 2023 in Butler County.
The board voted to deny Smith parole with no reset date.
Smith’s current term is not his first incarceration in Alabama’s prison system. Previously, he served nine months of a two-year sentence from 2016 for illegal possession/fraudulent use of a credit card in Jefferson County. He was also incarcerated one year and five months for two counts of burglary in the third degree.
The board held 20 parole hearings on April 16, granting three and denying 17. The board also held nine hearings on pardon requests, granting four and denying five.
