BOE Meeting
The Butler County Board of Education will conduct a special called meeting on Thursday, April 24 at 6 p.m. for approval of personnel actions. The meeting will be held at the Central Office Boardroom located at 949 Oglesby Street in Greenville, Alabama.
Book Sale
The Greenville Butler County Library will host its annual used book sale Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. to noon.
Cook Serve
Marvin’s in Greenville will host “Veterans Cook & Serve April 26, providing a free hamburger or hotdog lunch cooked and served by American Legion Post 24 members for donation to help with needed post building repairs.
Historical Meeting
The Butler County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold its quarterly meeting on April 27 at 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. Jackson Knight, author of the popular series, “Churches of the Alabama Black Belt,” will be the guest speaker.
Career Fair
The 2025 Spring Butler County School System Career Fair is set for April 29, 2 – 6 p.m. at Greenville High School. The system is hiring for a number of positions. RSVP is requested but not required. Call (334) 382-2665 or visit www.butlerco.k12.al.us for more information.
Lion King
The W.O. Parmer Elementary School’s Theatre Program presents “The Lion King” at a luncheon Wednesday, April 30 in the cafeteria. The event will be catered by Butler County’s Career Academy Hospitality Program. RSVP by April 21 at https://forms.gle/gkDXDu3JbZcqaHxZ9.
Music Movement
The Greenville-Butler County Public Library hosts Music & Movement Thursdays at 10 a.m. The program provides fun for ages 1-5 but all are welcome.
Free Training

Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery meets every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, 760 N. Conecuh Street in Greenville. The group deals with all types of issues and is free to the public. For more information call (334) 382-2138.

Quilt Club meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Greenville-Butler Co. Public Library. Beginner and advanced quilters welcome.

The No Stress Book Club will be held at 4 p.m. every second and fourth Wednesday of month at the Greenville Butler County Public Library, located at 309 Fort Dale Road.
Knitting Club
Knitting Club meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Greenville-Butler Co. Public Library. Beginner and advanced knitters welcome.
Morning Movers
The Greenville Exercise Center hosts exercise classes every weekday from 8-9 a.m. Guests can try the first class for free. For more information, call Helena Shirley at (334) 371-3030.
Prayer Day
The National Day of Prayer is May 1. An observance is scheduled for May 1 at noon at City Hall.
Veterans Meeting
American Legion Post 24 hosts a monthly veterans’ meeting the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at 100 American Legion Road in Greenville. All veterans are encouraged to attend.
Crawfish Boil
The Greenville Rotary Club will host its annual Crawfish Boil on May 3rd from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased from any Rotary Club member or at the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce office.
Shape Singing
The Annual Program of the South Alabama Seven Shape Singing Convention is set for May 3, 3 p.m. at the Convention Center – 11339 Luverne and Greenville Highway, Greenville. The them is Psalm 127:1. Each class is asked for a liberal donation of $25.
Cancer Screenings
The Urology Health Foundation, in conjunction with the Butler County Health Department, is offering free prostate cancer screenings May 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 300 North College Street in Greenville. Call (334) 382-3154 for more information.
Fish Fry
Cornwallis 1828 and American Legion Post 24 will host the First Annual Fish Fry for veterans May 17. All military veterans are invited to a free day of fishing and fellowship. Registration is required on the Cornwallis 1828 Facebook Page. Call Demp Bell at (251) 593-1770 for information.
