On April 2, the Greenville Kiwanis Club awarded 42 students at Greenville Elementary School with the honor of Terrific Kid for the months of January, February and March. The program is a character-building effort offered through Kiwanis International and chartered with schools through their local Kiwanis Clubs.

Kiwanians Michelle Buffy Styron and Joann Mathews presented the awards to students.

“It is an honor to be a member of Greenville Kiwanis Club because of the opportunities to make the difference in the life of a child in our area, even if it is with a simple certificate that tells them that someone sees them being their best self,” Styron said.

The pair said that joy is the emotion they feel when they see the idea spark in a child [who realizes] that they were chosen as a Terrific Kid because his/her teacher saw qualities in them such as thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, respectfulness, responsibility, inclusiveness, friendliness, inquisitiveness and capability.

The Greenville Kiwanis Club meets each Tuesday at the Beeland Park Community Center beginning at noon. For more information, follow Greenville Kiwanis Club on social media.
