Mr. Melvin Jackson Folmar, a resident of Georgiana, passed away on Saturday, April 19, at the age of 89.
Graveside Service will be held on Monday, April 21, beginning at 2 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church Cemetery with Jason Williams officiating and Johnson Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Melvin served 23 years in the active Air Force and retired as Senior Master Sergeant. He was an active Mason. He had retired from Ed Reid Technical College. He served as a deacon at Eastside Baptist Church in Georgiana.
Mr. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, William Oliver Folmar and Smithy Cole Folmar; daughter Lori Folmar (Allen) Ealum; granddaughter Anna Rose Carter and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Alice Sue Williams Folmar; daughters Cindy (Dannie) Garner, Sherry (Ken)Carter and Kim (Nate) Pierce; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
