Joseph Ray Skipper, 62, of Georgiana, passed away on Friday, April 4 at his home. 

He was born in Greenville. Ray had worked as a law enforcement officer for many years ending his career with Poarch Creek Indian Police Department.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Nicole Skipper; father, Dillard Lamar Skipper; mother, Ann Skipper McNaughton; stepfather, Herston McNaughton; sister, Katie Skipper Hill; brother, Phillip Lamar Skipper; brother-in-law, Glenn Sorrells and nephew, Richard Miller.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mysma Helena Skipper; daughter, Ashley Skipper Taylor; sisters, Karen Skipper McKeown (Andy) and Joanne Miller Sorrells; brother, Ricky Miller; grandchildren, Jackson and Tyson Pouncey and Lane Taylor as well as several nieces and nephews. Ray is also survived by his loving Brazilian adopted family including daughter, Thyara Rodrigues; son, Paulo Rodrigues (Debora); brother, Francisco Rodrigues (Erica); grandchildren, Julia, Tiago, Davi, Lucca and Maria Flor and mother-in-law, Helena Rodrigues.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at Dunklin Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Andy McKeown officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 12 p.m. until time of services.

Ray will be greatly missed by many.
