Jimmy E. Sims II, better known as Butch, has recently opened Sims Auctioneering Company, offering services for family estates, business liquidations, equipment sales and fundraising or charity auctions.
Incorporated in January, Sims Auctioneering exists to help residents of Greenville and the surrounding area with auctions of all kinds.
“We are brand new,” Sims said. “We are now fully operational, and we’re less than probably a month old, but I’m where I want to be and ready to hit the ground running.”
Sims, a licensed and bonded auctioneer, works directly with clients to promote and sell items, handling every step of the auction process.
“I will come in and work directly with the client,” Sims said. “Whatever they want to sell, it’s my job to promote it. We put on the auction, get up on the mic and start calling bids to get the highest dollar amount possible.”
Sims honed his auctioneering skills through Troy University’s Auctioneering program, completing 85 hours of coursework in topics such as auctioneering rules, regulations, ethics and the fast-paced chant used by auctioneers. Following the program, Sims completed an internship at Tri-County Auction in Millbrook.
