Truman Stuart, 79, of Georgiana, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 11. He was lovingly ushered into heaven, where his beloved wife of 55 years, Betty, and his Heavenly Father awaited him.

Truman was born on April 21, 1945, to Kenneth Eugene Stuart and Nellie Ora Stuart. He grew up in Butler County alongside his six siblings, with whom he shared a deep love and affection. A man of great determination, Truman was no stranger to hard work. From a young age, he displayed a spirited independence. He learned to ride the bus to school, but upon arrival, he would catch the milkman’s route back home so he could spend time with his dog and goat — always knowing how to prioritize the simple joys in life.

His work ethic led him to a successful career in the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) business, a field he worked in for much of his life, primarily in Shelby County. After decades of service, Truman retired to Butler County, the place he proudly called home.

Throughout his life, Truman dedicated himself to providing a beautiful life for his children: Johnny (Sheila) Stapleton, Tony (Darlene) Stapleton, Sherri Stapleton Jones, Michael Stuart and Kristi (Kevin) Turner. He found immense joy in his family, especially in the love he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Truman was also an avid enthusiast of riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, and tending to his flourishing garden, which he lovingly nurtured each year.

Truman was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Nellie Stuart, his siblings Percy Stuart and Mary Green and his cherished wife, Betty Stuart.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family. Truman will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his loving dog, Jed.

The family is grateful for all the prayers, support and the outpouring of love from the staff at Baptist Hospital, family, friends and community.

Pallbearers were Cody Stapleton, Andrew Gibson, Jake Stapleton, Garrett Jones, Matthew Stuart, Zachary Stuart, Heath Stuart, Stone Turner and Sam Turner.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, March 14, beginning at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Vastine Stuart (nephew) officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery, Georgiana with Johnson Funeral Home directing. The family received friends for visitation, starting at 1 p.m. until service time.
