The Greenville City Council approved an affiliate agreement with Fathom Entertainment during its March 10 meeting, allowing the city to bring in additional movie screenings while generating revenue through the Edge Theater.
“This [decision] is giving us the authority to enter into an agreement with a company called Fathom Entertainment,” said City Clerk Dee Blackmon. “They provide movies, but they pay us to play them. These are movies that are not your high-dollar movies, it’s just something that they want to get out.”
Identified as Resolution 2025-11, the motion was approved unanimously by the council.
In other business, the council also approved Resolution 2025-10, renewing its contract with Lamar Advertising Company for three billboards along U.S. Interstate Highway 65.
“We have three of them, and the total per month is $1,701.00,” Blackmon said.
Additionally, the council approved a $4,480.16 expenditure for a brake motor for the Street Department’s Truck #19 from Southland International. Reports on city inspections and weed and debris violations were also presented.
The next regular Greenville City Council meeting is scheduled for March 24, at 5:30 p.m.
