Nancy Ann (Wood) Jones was born on Feb. 24, 1933 in Roanoke. She passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, at Hospice of West Alabama.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 7, beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home with Reverend John Girdley officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until service time.
“Miss” Nancy was a dynamic Southern lady who loved her family, church and the community in which she lived. She was a graduate of Jacksonville State University in Home Economics and taught school in Randolph County for several years before becoming a full-time homemaker. She devoted her life to making her family, friends and neighbors feel special and mentored many young women as a Girl Scout leader for 10 years. She was a very active member of the Sasanqua Garden Club in Greenville.
Miss Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Elton Jones; her parents, W.M. and Nell Wood and sister, Miriam (James) Haywood.
She is survived by her daughter, Luinda (Daryl) Jones Corley; her son, David (Pattie) Jones; grandsons, Nathaniel (Zandalee) Kooker, William Jones, Christopher Jones, Kasey (Jamison) Corley; great grandson, Jenison Elam and three nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Greenville or Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
