On Feb. 18, Greenville city officials and members of the Alabama Forestry Commission handed out free trees to residents, offering numerous varieties that included persimmon, oak and pecan. Set up on Commerce Street across from City Hall, the distribution event aimed to encourage tree planting and environmental stewardship.
