Mr. Rex Shows, age 67, years of age passed away at his home on Feb. 22 surrounded by his loving family.
Rex served in the United States Army with an honorable discharge four days before his second daughter was born in March of 1988. Upon returning home he resided in Georgiana, where he lived his remaining years and raised his family in the Avant Community. He drove a delivery truck for over 30 years and retired from HD Supply in 2023.
He was a dedicated active church member of Christian Life Ministries for over 20 years. Rex was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a light to so many and a true warrior of strength.
In 2004, he coached the little league Dodgers into 1st place for Georgiana. Rex had a love for not only coaching ball but playing as well. He was very involved in not only his children but grandchildren’s lives. Over the last four years he had learned and enjoyed line dancing with Pam and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Debra Coxwell Shows of 34 years, father Leon “Driver” Shows, mother Jean C. Shows and sister Barbara Ann Shows McNeil.
Rex is survived by his wife Pam Ward Shows, son Adam (Tambri) Shows, son Christopher Shows, daughter Nikki (Wallace) Huggins, daughter Sam Odom, son Byron (Wendy) Ward, Issac (Jessica) Ward, Blakely (Heather) Ward, brother Randy Shows and sister Sharon Shows, 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, beginning at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Union Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for visitation, Tuesday, Feb 25, at Johnson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
