Dr. William “Bill” Roy Farmer III, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 11 at his residence in Evergreen. Bill was married to the love of his life, his princess, Pam Farmer. Their passion for caring for others is what brought them together.
Bill graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1980. His residency training was from Lloyd Nolan Hospital and UAB-Montgomery Baptist South. He specialized in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. He had over 45 years of diverse experience, especially in Internal Medicine. He was affiliated with many hospitals, including Baptist Hospital, D W McMillan Memorial Hospital, Evergreen Medical Center and Sacred Heart Hospital. Bill was currently employed with Andalusia Health.
In 1991, he graduated from law school at the University of Alabama. Bill held a Jurist Doctorate in Law from Birmingham School of Law. This brought his love for Alabama Football.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Roy Farmer, II and Myrtle Ruth Wiltz, stepfather Eugene Wiltz and niece Sarah Betterton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pam Farmer, stepsons Chase Hall and Chris (Sam) Hall; granddaughter Mary Katherine Hall and grandson Karson Hall; brother Gene Wiltz, sister-in-law Sandy (Rusty) Foley; brother-in-law Steve Betterton, brother-in-law Shannon (Deborah) Betterton; nephews Jamie (Jessica) Betterton, Andy Betterton, Kolton (Kim) Betterton and Abbott (Gracie) Betterton as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, Feb. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing. The family received friends for visitation, Thursday, Feb. 13, at Johnson Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
