The National Weather Service said Monday that a more active week looks to get going on Wednesday into Wednesday night.
“We are closely monitoring the potential for some strong to severe storms being possible during that time frame,” said Brandon Black in a media release. “Confidence in severe weather is low; however, things have been slowly trending towards a better potential mainly over the western half of the area.
“The best chances look to be across interior southeastern Mississippi and into Interior southwestern Alabama. A second system looks to arrive during the weekend as well; however, we are still too far out for any real details on the weekend system.”
The biggest confidence issue right now is the timing of storms on Wednesday. Current timing appears to be early evening into the overnight hours; however, if timing of storms speeds up a little to a more late afternoon threat then instability, which is the limiting factor, will likely improve and confidence in a higher threat may evolve.
“This will be what we will be watching over the next day or so,” Black said.
