The Butler County Historical and Genealogical Society (BCHGS) would like to invite everyone to attend the 2024 Fall Tour of Homes on Saturday, Oct. 19.
“This year’s tour is an exciting mix of historical Greenville homes and those considered modern,” said Walter Parmer, Tour Director. “We are thankful to the homeowners who are opening their houses to our members and the many visitors we expect to travel to Greenville for the BCHGS tour.”
The houses on the Fall Tour of Homes are the Barrett home, the Hamilton-Ashurst home, the Herbert-Feathers home, the Perry-Wilkinson-Branum home, the Smith home and the Zeigler-Killough home.
Additionally, Mollie Waters will be giving tours of Pioneer Cemetery. The other city landmarks that will be open and staffed with volunteers include the Butler County Courthouse, Greenville City Hall, the Ritz Theatre and the Railroad Depot. Churches on this year’s tour are the Butler Chapel AME Zion, the First Baptist, St. Elizabeth and St. Thomas.
A highlight of the day is sure to be three performances by the choir of the Butler Chapel AME Zion Church at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Greenville Hardware is a new stop this year that will be of interest to many.
The cost of the tour is $30 per person. Registration begins at 9:00 at Tour Headquarters/First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Everyone must register to receive their tour brochures and armbands which allow access to all the stops.
