On Sept. 12, Country Place Assisted Living in Greenville marked its ten-year anniversary with a festive celebration attended by residents, their families and community members. The event was highlighted by a special proclamation from Mayor Dexter McLendon, declaring the week of Sept. 8 – 14 as “Assisted Living Week” in Greenville.
“I urge all citizens to visit or call a loved one, a family member or friend, residing in any care setting and to offer a kind word,” McLendon said during an emotional speech at the event.
A lifelong Butler County resident, McLendon spoke of his personal connections with many of the residents at the facility.
Throughout the week, the facility has hosted various activities to commemorate the milestone, including a pep rally featuring cheer and dance performances from local schools and a health fair with games and local food trucks.
During the celebration, Sean Broadbent, Chief Financial Officer of Country Place Assisted Living, announced the purchase of a new van for resident transportation, which will be shared among the three Alabama facilities with plans for further expansion in the future.
“We’re so thankful to you,” Broadbent said, addressing the crowd. “We’re thankful to our partners in town. We’re thankful to our staff, all of them… . We as a company feel privileged to provide [residents] a home, and that’s the most important thing to us is your care and well-being. We trust these good people that are out in the field to take good care of you. They all have great servant hearts and we’re just very proud of them.”
Facility Director Alaina Norman, who has been with Country Place since its inception, expressed her gratitude for the community’s ongoing support.
“Our community has been in operation for ten years, so we’re celebrating that,” Norman said. “We just really appreciate all the support from the community.”
