First Baptist Church (FBC) in Greenville will celebrate its 168th anniversary with a special homecoming service on Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. Following homecoming is a three-day revival which runs from October 7-9.
The celebration will include testimonies, a recognition from the Alabama Historical Commission and worship led by guest speaker Bro. Phil Winningham. Lunch will be provided after the homecoming service.
“This is a special homecoming for me for two reasons,” said Pastor John Girdley. “First, we haven’t experienced a homecoming at FBC since our 150th. Much has transpired in those eighteen years that deserves a special day of celebration. Second, and most important, any time you can slow down and count your blessings is a good thing.
“God has been so faithful to FBC over the years. We look forward to celebrating that goodness during our homecoming.”
Revival services will begin at 7 p.m. each night, with guest speakers Daniel Wilson on Oct.7, Randy Harvill on Oct. 8 and Bishop Wiley Thornton, III, on Oct. 9.
All members of the Greenville community are invited to join in this celebration of faith under the theme: “Celebrating Our Past, Committed to Our Future.”
