The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce is spreading the love this February with its “Love Local” campaign, featuring a series of initiatives to support and celebrate local businesses and the community. As part of this campaign, local chamber member businesses have generously contributed merchandise, gift cards, and a variety of other items to create three enticing “Love Local” baskets, each valued at $400.
Tracy Salter, Executive Director of the Chamber, highlighted the appeal of these baskets.
“Each basket is valued at $400 and packed full of local goodies,” Salter said.
The baskets will be raffled off Feb. 14, offering community members a chance to win some fantastic prizes while supporting local businesses. Funds raised from the ticket sales will be used for a meaningful cause—the completion of the chamber’s next mural. This mural will become the sixth addition to the Camellia City Mural Trail, a beloved feature of the community. The exact location and design of the mural will be announced later this month.
Raffle tickets are $5 and can be purchased at various locations throughout town, including the Chamber of Commerce, McFerrin’s Jewelry, Camellia City Bakery, Camellia City Metal, Hartley 6 Sports & Outdoors, Norris Produce, Not the Norm, Market on Main and Tayla & Pearls Attic Finds.
“We have a great list of participating sponsors and adding more daily,” Salter said. “If any business is interested in participating, they can call the chamber at 382-3251.”
Ashleigh and Troy Norris, who opened Norris Produce in late 2023, sell fresh seafood, meats and locally grown produce. Ashleigh expressed her enthusiasm for the community and their involvement in the campaign.
“We’re new in town and trying to get more involved in the community,”Norris said.“I’ve always loved Greenville. Everyone has been so nice, and this is a way to give something back.”
The couple hopes their contribution of gift certificates to the goody baskets reflects their commitment to supporting local initiatives and businesses.
Craig Waller, owner of Greenville’s 24hr fitness, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing his dedication to the town he calls home.
“The love we have for this community,” Waller said, “We’ll do whatever we can in any way.”
In addition to the basket drawings, the Chamber has planned a visual treat for the streets of Greenville. Camellia Girls and Chamber Page ambassadors will adorn the sidewalks of Commerce Street with vibrant chalk art, featuring messages filled with love for business owners, residents, and visitors to enjoy throughout the month of February. This artistic endeavor is set to begin in early February, adding a colorful and festive touch to the downtown area.
The “Love Local” campaign offers a meaningful way for residents to show their appreciation for the unique offerings of their town while contributing to its vibrant future.
