The Fort Dale Academy Eagles defeated Morgan Academy last week winning two out of three games by gaining a 11-7 victory Wednesday, losing 9-7 in the first double header Thursday, and captured an 8-2 win in the second Thursday game.

The Senators stayed in the game until the end Wednesday, but the Eagles pulled away late in an 11-7 victory.

The game was tied at six with the Eagles batting in the top of the ninth when Cade Lakes singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.  Morgan lost despite out-hitting Fort Dale 12 to nine.  

Fort Dale got on the board early in the first inning when Owen McNeal drove in a run on a runs batted in (RBI) single. 

Morgan Academy evened things up at six in the bottom of the seventh inning when Everette Black induced Barron Frazer to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.  Morgan Heath led the Eagles to victory on the pitcher’s mound. Heath allowed three hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking no one.  

Black threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.  C.J. Crocker took the loss for Morgan Academy. He allowed one hit and no runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking no one. 

Jack Moore started the game for the Senators. Moore surrendered four runs on four hits over two-thirds of an inning, walking zero.  Clay Benson started the game for Fort Dale. Benson lasted six and a third innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out six and walking none.  

Morgan Academy  saw the ball well Thursday,  racking up 12 hits in the game.  John Allen Ingram, T.B. Clements, and Harrison Jones all managed multiple hits for the Senators.  Ingram went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Morgan in hits.  

The Eagles collected nine hits in the game. Parker McNeal, Benson and McNeal all had multiple hits for Fort Dale in the winning effort. Ft. Dale Head Coach Marshall Watts gave credit to his seniors for pushing his team to the win in extra innings. 

“We took an early lead and of course Coach Clements’ team kept fighting and made it a game,” Watts said. “But, we are a team with several seniors that have played a good bit and at the end they just willed the team to a W. “ 

During the second Thursday game, the Senators snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-7 victory over the Eagles.  The game was tied at seven with the Senator’s batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored one run for Morgan.

Despite falling down by five runs in the second inning, Fort Dale tried to fight back.  The  Eagles scored six runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Owen McNeal in the third, a single by Clay Benson in the third, a walk by Cade Lakes in the fifth, a single by Everette Black in the fifth, and an error in the sixth.

Morgan Academy opened up the scoring in the first inning.  Cade Henderson drove in two when he hit an RBI single.

Fort Dale evened things up at seven in the bottom of the sixth inning when an error scored one run for the Eagles.

Morgan Academy notched three runs in the second inning.  John Allen Ingram and T.B. Clements all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.Fort Dale scored three runs in the fifth inning.  Fort Dale’s big inning was driven by a walk by Lakes and a single by Black.

Henderson earned the victory on the mound for Morgan. He had a great game recording no runs on one hit over one inning, striking out one and walking one.  Clay Beers threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Barron Frazer started the game for the Senators. Frazer went four and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out ten.

Watts said that Frazer gave the Eagles all sorts of problems at the plate. 

“Morgan’s pitcher kept us off balance for most of the game,” Watts said. “We finally got into the bullpen and were able to get back in the game a little.”

Morgan Academy tallied eight hits on the day.  Clements, Ingram, and Henderson each managed multiple hits for the Senators.  Clements led Morgan Academy with three hits in three at-bats.

Fort Dale racked up nine hits in the game.  Black, Parker McNeal, and McNeal all managed multiple hits for the Eagles.

Morgan Academy fell behind early in the third game and couldn’t come back in an 8-2 loss to Fort Dale on Friday.  Fort Dale took an early lead in the first inning.

The Senators struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Eagles in this game, giving up eight runs.

Fort Dale scored four runs in the fifth inning to start a big inning for the Eagles. The big inning came thanks to groundouts by Garrett Simmons and Brady Long and a single by Owen McNeal.

Parker McNeal earned the victory on the mound for the Eagles. McNeal went one-third of an inning, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out one and walking one.  McNeal threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jack Moore took the loss for Morgan Academy. Moore surrendered three runs on two hits over two innings, striking out three and no walks.

Cade Henderson started the game for Morgan Academy. Henderson surrendered five runs on three hits over four innings, striking out three Everette Black started the game for the Eagles. He allowed three hits and one run over five and a third innings, striking out eight in the loss. 

“We were able to scrap a run or two across in the first few innings,” Watts said. “Everett Black competed on the mound and we were finally able to make the routine plays behind him. Parker came in for the last out because he has been out for several weeks with some arm issues but seems to be getting better and needs a little mound time. 

John Allen Ingram, Barron Frazer, and T.B. Clements each collected one hit to lead the Senators.
