Friday marked the grand opening of Downtown Boutique, in Greenville.

Owners Amanda Acreman and Shonna Dungan accepted custom orders for embroidery and screen printing services before the opening. Now, the boutique side of their business is up and running.

“This is something that Shonna and I both talked about for a few years,” Acreman said. “We both worked 60 hour a week jobs and have kids. “Shonna has been doing custom shirts for McKenzie from her home for years on the side, so we talked about it for a while, and decided we would have our own business.”

The boutique currently offers kid’s clothing, womens’, and womens’ plus size clothing.

“We’re getting some men’s [clothing] in,” Acreman said. “We’re still working on getting our inventory. We just have a small shipment in right now.”

The women also perform custom embroidery, spirit wear, and fundraising screen prints orders.

“We do a lot of fundraising things with the schools too, for their spirit wear and teams,” Acreman said.

Dungan creates most of the spirit wear for the business.

“We can do all spirit wear for every day for schools, plus we can do bundle deals,” Dungan said. “We’ll also do bundle deals when it comes up for school next year. And, we can do a lay-a-way program for parents as well. If a parent needs multiple items, they can get a plan that will help out.”

Acreman and Dungan currently rent the space for their boutique in downtown Greenville. They looked at other options but ultimately decided Greenville would be the best place to locate their new business.

“We’re looking to purchase someplace down here,” Acreman said. “It’s the best place, and it’s growing.”

Both Acreman and Dungan like the fact that downtown Greenville offers walking traffic.

“It’s not like the commercial side of Greenville with all the interstate traffic,” Acreman said. “It’s more homey, more personal here.

“That’s how we got our name,” Dungan said.

But, Downtown Boutique is more than just a boutique, Dungan said.

“We do so much custom stuff too,” she added.

Downtown Boutique is located at 131 W. Commerce St. in Greenville.
