The Pineapple, a staple in downtown Greenville for several years, recently moved to Willow Lane, beside Whitaker Drugs.

With Christmas traffic coming and going, Lori Woods, manager of the shop, said it was hard to tell if The Pineapple was seeing more foot traffic in its new location.

“This is our slow time now,” Woods said.

One of the reasons the owners decided to move into the new location was due to sales.

Woods said she is hopeful the new location will bring in buyers, from travelers stopping in from the interstate and people who are staying in the hotels around the area.

She added being next door to a pharmacy is also good for business.

“While people are waiting next door to get their prescriptions filled at Whitaker Drugs, they can come in and browse while they wait,” Woods said.

Even better, they can shop for those small things that come in handy when an unexpected occasion occurs or for a forgotten birthday gift.

Another reason the store moved was the condition of the downtown building.

The building itself has been around for several generations. It has served the city and the business well for quite a few of those years.

The new location, at 750 Willow Lane, features freshly-painted crisp white walls and beautiful flooring.

“Everything is more compact here,” Woods said.

She noted the consolidated space makes it easier to keep up with inventory and sales.

“We really like it here, “Woods added.

Several customers, who were browsing and asking questions, also said they liked the new location.

Shirley Killough, a frequent visitor, spoke favorably of the new location.

“I like the new location,” she said. “It’s easy to get to and convenient.

The Pineapple still has its beautiful inventory on offer; that has not changed.

From dishes and stemware, handbags and tote bags, notecards and baby items by the dozens, the quality and variety the town Of Greenville has come to expect is still there.

Woods and her staff welcome any and all to come by and have a look at their new surroundings.

The Pineapple is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, the hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
