Mt. Ida Missionary Baptist Church is hosting an “Educational Appreciation Luncheon” on Aug. 27 at 10 a.m.

The church is located at 160 Mt. Ida Road in Greenville.

Pastor Michael Pouncey said he has an overall vision for this event. He would like more than just teachers, those still teaching, and those retired, to attend this event. He wants all the employees in the local school systems to attend because everyone is important.

“In order for the school system to function properly, all members must work together as one,” said Cynthia Herbert, a longtime member of the Mt. Ida congregation. “All the staff must come together and work as one unit to ensure that the children receive the best education they possibly can.”

Dr. John Curry, Jr., pastor of the Mount Olive Church In Tuskegee, will serve as the event’s guest speaker.

“Everyone is invited to attend,” said Herbert.
