Salter said sponsors will pay for the bounce house and some other kid activities so kids can come and bounce and have a fun time for free. She said there will be lots of vendors on hand with an array of items.

“Very family oriented,” Salter said. “Most of the entertainment that day will be local folks.”

Salter said a lot of people were worried about football that day. She plans to have a TV set up in a tent, so if you are at CityFest you can still watch or check-in on the game.

Anyone who would like more information or would like to participate as a vendor, please call Salter at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

One of the biggest things Salter said is going on is the bicentennial. October 15, in partnership with the Butler County Historical Society, the city and the Chamber will be doing a celebration downtown. Salter said the streets will be closed off just like at CityFest and vendors will be set up as well as exhibits. Tents will be set up with displays have knowledgeable people to explain the displays and answer questions.

Salter said there are several things in the works that will be in combination of the bicentennial celebration. A time capsule is one of them.

Walter Parmer with the Butler County Historical Society also spoke at the Lions meeting on Monday. He gave the Lions a brief history on Butler County. Parmer said the Historical Society will be giving the Tour of Homes during the bicentennial. He said the Historical Society was able to acquire a grant of $3,500 and Chris Sells gave another $500 to cover all expenses of the Tour of Homes.

Six homes will be on the tour. Parmer said one of the homes has a small female ghost that sometimes makes an appearance, but you have to spend the $20 and go on the tour to find out which one it is.
