It is hard to imagine people in our community going hungry, unable to feed their children, or elderly grandparents with no means to get groceries. Unfortunately, it is a sad fact that it is not only happening throughout the world, it is happening within the Greenville community. Local businesses have reached into their pocketbooks to help their neighbors in need.

Jason Jones and Dana Carlton, co-owners of Jones Medical Supply, presented a $1,000 check to Haus Kazeroonian, an operator at The Shepherd’s Table, and Aaron Miller, associate pastor at Southside Baptist Church, on July 6, to further their efforts to feed the hungry, physically and spiritually, in Greenville.

It’s a way for Jones Medical Supply to give to the community,” Miller said. “The Shepherd’s Table does a great job. We wanted to be plugged in and do our part to help feed those in need.”

“Every three months, we are going to have a remote distribution from different churches and different parts of the county so we can spread God’s love,” Kazeroonian said. “These funds will help and carry us for months.”

On July 12, Rhonda Weston, Greenville Bancorp branch manager, presented The Shepherd’s Table with another donation.

“The last couple of years, we have felt like The Shepherd’s Table does such a good job in our community with helping the needy that we wanted to give a $1,000 donation to help them with any of their needs,” Weston said.

Will Bowman with The Shepherd’s Table accepted the donation. Bowman, Daniel Ingram, Haus Kazeroonian, and several volunteers work together to feed the hungry in and around Greenville.

“We are very grateful for this donation, again, from Bancorp, and it is truly a blessing to us,” Bowman said. “With the way things are in our world, there is a lot of need, especially in our community, for food and other supplies, and this will go a long way to help feed the people in our community.”

The Shepherd’s Table was formed in January of 2020. The goal of the organization is to show the love of Jesus through feeding those in need. Grocery distribution is once a month at Southside Baptist Church at 211 King Street in Greenville. For distribution dates, follow their Facebook page @shepherdstablesbc or call 334-382-6224.
