Greenville City Council accepts 79 acres during recent meeting

The Greenville City Council approved a resolution authoring a land lease for the transfer station between Greenville and BFI Waste Services, LLC during Monday’s city council meeting.

The lease agreement is a 30-year term agreement that will go toward the filling station and includes three ten-year extensions at the option of BFI. The rental property for this land lease is located at 205 Landfill Drive.

The council then approved a resolution accepting some certain real property in the form of a deed of gift from Thigpen Hill LLC.

The property in question is a 79-acre plot located next to Cambrian Ridge between Forever Wild’s property.

The property was made available by Isabelle Hill at no cost. The value of the land is approximately $2,000 an acre.

“This is a great thing that would allow us to build some cabins or something of that nature out there depending on what the people at Forever Wild will do with their property,” said Mayor Dexter McLendon during the meeting. “For now, we’re just looking to accept this plot of land.”

Regarding the rest of the meeting, the city council

• Approved a resolution approving the issuance of an ABC license to Bismillah of Troy for retail beer and table wine for off-premises only
• Approved a $4,454 expenditure to replace the underground current to the centerfield pole at the softball complex
• Approved a $1,034 budgeted expenditure for the purchase of street and road signs for the street department
• Approved a $1,176 expenditure for a service contract with the fire department for the Lifepak 1000 AED maintenance
