Mrs. Louise Minard Ward, 80, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation. A graveside service for Mrs. Ward was held at 2 PM on Friday, February 12th, in Faith Hill Cemetery with Rev. Keith Morgan officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Ward began life facing far more obstacles than many others when she was born both deaf and mute. However, she was never the kind of person who would let anything hold her back. She went on to excel in her schooling, torching all expectations for what she could achieve. She later went to trade school to become a beautician before deciding to move to textile factories for more secure employment as she raised her family. Mrs. Ward was extremely gifted with her hands and was capable of producing beautiful creations through her sewing and knitting. She never allowed her physical limitations to hamper how she wished to live her life as she easily made friends and never truly met a stranger. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first. She spent a lifetime taking care of her boys, and then their children and grandchildren. Her home was always open to all of them, and she served as an incomparable example of how to make the most of the hand life deals you.

Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Carlton Ward Jr; their son Jeffrey L. Ward; daughter-in-law, Cathy Ward; parents, Ernest & Lucy Harris Minard; and two brothers, Ray Minard & Coy Minard. She is survived by three sons, Stanley (Jane) Ward, Michael (Diane) Ward, and Byron Ward; six grandchildren, Cortney (Eden) Ward, Becky (Justin) Vann, Christopher (Santana) Ward, Michael Evan (Sara) Ward, Ciera Ward, and Megan Ward; and nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
