Mildred Killough Turner Tanner

Mildred Killough Turner Tanner, 87, of Lowndesboro, died peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Memorial Hospital, Gulfport, Miss.

Funeral services were  held Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Greenville, AL. with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.

Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Glenwood, Alabama. The family will receive friends at Southside Baptist Church on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Mildred was born in Rutledge, to Kendrick and Idelle Defee Killough.

She graduated from Luverne High School in 1951 and married the of her life, Haywood Turner. They enjoyed 31 years of marriage, living in Troy, Luverne and Greenville, AL, until Haywood was tragically killed in a 1982 automobile accident. In 1993, Mildred married Marshall Tanner of Montgomery, AL. They made their home together on the banks of the Alabama River in the River Bend community near Lowndesboro  until recently when Mildred went to live with her son and daughter-in-law in Picayune, MS because of her declining health.

Mildred held clerical positions through the years, and retired as long-time Office Manager for Sterling Oil Company in Greenville.

She was a Christian and member of Southside Baptist Church in Greenville where she sang in the Adult Choir, taught in Church Training, participated in WMU and served on numerous finance, personnel, and staff search  committees. At the time of her death, Mildred was a member of River Bend Baptist Church in Lowndesboro where she served in several capacities prior to her health issues.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Kendrick and Minnie Idelle (Defee) Killough and her husband of 31 years, Marvin Haywood Turner.

She is survived by her son, Marvin Anthony Turner and his wife, Judy (Davis), Picayune, MS; her grandson , Benjamin Davis Turner and his wife, Audra (Riggs) , McKinney, TX; her granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Turner, Houston ,TX;  her sister, Brenda Killough Franklin, Luverne, AL.; and 5 nephews and 1 niece. She is also survived by her  husband, Marshall Tanner, Lowndesboro, AL. and his family, Marty Tanner, Hope Hull, AL; Emily Rogers (Jesse) , River Rogers, and Dusty Pittman, Hope Hull, AL; and Tracey, Charlie & Tanner Shamburger, Montgomery, AL.

Millie Wheeler Sheffield

Mrs. Millie Wheeler Sheffield, 86, a resident of Camden, AL died at Camden Nursing Facility on Thursday, October 22, 2020. A graveside service will be Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Braggs Cemetery with Deacon Henry McIntosh officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to J. P. Jones Hospital in Camden, AL.

Edward Owen “Sonny” Anderson

Mr. Edward Owen Anderson “Sonny”, 73, of Greenville, AL died Friday, October 23, 2020. A graveside service will be Monday, October 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunrise Memorial Park with Brother Randy Harvill officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his son, Eddie Anderson (Delana) of Greenville, AL; daughter, Kim Murphy (John) of Auburn, AL; grandchildren, Wyatt Anderson, Laikyn Anderson (Joseph Peavy), Kailey Murphy and Dalton Murphy; great-grandson, Nathaniel Owen Anderson; sisters, Gina Folds (Cecil) and Terry Anderson; brothers, Mike Anderson (Marilyn), Randy Anderson (Susan) and Richard Anderson and many nieces nephews and other family members.

Irene Sampley Flowers

Mrs. Irene Sampley Flowers, 66, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama and formerly of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. A graveside service for Mrs. Flowers was held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 24th, in Perdue Cemetery in Greenville, Alabama with Rev. Michael Stubbs officiating and Turners Funeral Home.

Mrs. Flowers spent most of her life being a role model to others as to the value of hard work at major factories like Vanity Fair and Smart. She will most lovingly be remembered for how devoted to her family she was. She was a phenomenal mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, but, most of all, she adored her grandchildren. Once they were born, pretty much all of her free time was spent spoiling them with her loving care. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends she leaves behind, but they are grateful for every second they were able to spend with her.

Mrs. Flowers was preceded in death by her parents, Dave & Emma Walker Sampley; three brothers, Ronnie Sampley, Donald Sampley, and Billy Sampley; and her niece, Tabatha Sampley. She is survived by her two children, Ray Frazier and April (Marty) McCoy; three grandchildren, John Yoder III, Aiden Yoder, and Payton McCoy; four siblings, Angeline (Robert) Frazier, Callie Hartin, Lafayette (Ann) Sampley, and Jerry (Brenda) Sampley; and many nieces & nephews.

Active pallbearers were David Sampley, Bryan Sampley, Brandon Sampley, Jerry Sampley, Joey Sampley, and Kenny Coshatt.
