For the second time in just a few weeks, all eyes are on the Gulf of Mexico.

Hurricane Delta was rapidly intensifying rapidly on Tuesday morning and was a dangerous Category 4 hurricane.

Current forecasts show that landfall could take play in Louisiana, but meteorologists say tracking to the east could be possible.

Tropical storm force winds could be possible especially in Southwest Alabama and Southeast Mississippi.

Meteorologists said Tuesday afternoon that the timing has slowed down, but it is not expected to stall like Sally did.

There is a 20 percent chance that Butler County will receive tropical storm force winds, with a 4 percent chance that winds greater than 58 mph could occur here.

There is also a 1 percent change for hurricane force winds, locally.

The earliest reasonable time of arrival of tropical storm force winds would be Saturday morning.

Some 3 to 5 inches of rain is possible, with higher totals being possible.

Rain is expected to begin on Thursday with the heaviest rain most likely Friday and Saturday.

The storm has forced some local football teams to move this week’s games to Thursday night.

McKenzie’s game against Kinston has been moved to 7 p.m., Thursday.

Georgiana’s game against Brantley has been moved to 7 p.m., Thursday.
