It was a tough night for Crenshaw Christian Academy as the cougars fell to Jackson Academy 27-18.

CCA opened the game in exciting fashion as the cougars returned the kickoff 80 yards to the Jackson Academy 20. However, they failed to convert on 4th and 10 as they were inches short of the line to gain.

After Jackson Academy’s first drive stalled near midfield, CCA would quickly move the ball to JA’s 42-yard line after a stellar pass to number 15, Austin Archie. Unfortunately for the cougars, an interception by JA would end the drive.

Later in the second quarter, CCA would start to get the offense rolling after a pair of runs by number 23, John David Taylor, would take the ball down to the JA 26-yard line. Taylor would ultimately punch it in from the 3-yard line, and after a missed extra point the cougars would go up 6-0.

CCA would quickly put more points on the board as QB Demetric Toney would complete a beautiful 66-yard TD to WR Jack Dylan Hewitt. After a failed two-point conversion, CCA would go up 12-0.

It seemed like CCA was in total control, but JA would put a TD on the board from WR LaDarius Webb Jr with 40 seconds left in the first half. After a failed two-point conversion, JA would cut the lead to 12-6.

The second half would be mostly controlled by Jackson Academy. JA would play solid defense in the third, holding CCA to zero points. After a 2-yard QB sneak, JA would claim a 13-12 lead.

JA would then strike again on their next drive as number 10 Dakota Baxter would take a nice end around run into the endzone for a 14-yard TD. After another failed two-point conversion, JA would take a 19-12 lead.

CCA would find their offense again on the next drive, and QB Demetric Toney would scramble for an impressive 42-yard touchdown run with 8:51 left in the game. However, after a missed PAT, the cougars would still trail 19-18.

JA sealed CCA’s fate later in the 4th after a long drive resulting in a touchdown and successful two-point conversion would put them up 27-18.

Jackson Academy (4-0) now has a BYE week to rest up and prepare for Coosa Valley Academy.
