Kendra Majors has been named regional editor of The Greenville Advocate, The Luverne Journal, The Lowndes Signal, The Demopolis Times, The Selma Times-Journal and associated digital and print products.

Majors previously served as regional publisher of The Andalusia Star-News, The Atmore Advance and The Brewton Standard.

All three newspapers are affiliates of Boone Newspapers Inc., headquartered in Tuscaloosa.

Previously, Majors served as editor of The Luverne Journal and The Lowndes Signal.

She began her career with Boone Newspapers at The Troy Messenger.

A Brantley native, Majors earned a bachelor’s degree in print journalism and art from Troy University in May 2008. While at Troy, she served as editor and staff writer of the student newspaper, The Tropolitan, for four year.

She also has experience as a graphic designer, and interned at PowerSouth Energy Cooperative in its corporate communications department.

While in Andalusia, Majors has served on the board of directors of the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Covington County Children’s Policy Council. She is a former president of the Andalusia Lions Club and has served as chairperson of the Covington Region Honor Flight board. She also currently serves on the Alabama Press Association Foundation Board.

“I am excited about this new role that will allow me to invest in communities that I absolutely love,” Majors said. “Being a community journalist is something that I embraced years ago, and I understand the importance community journalism plays in our communities. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to meet some of the best people from all walks of life within the communities in South Alabama I have had the privilege of working and am thrilled to continue that here. Greenville has always held a special place in my heart since my grandparents lived here when I was growing up, and I was able to enjoy much of what the community has to offer. We have a great group of folks working here and will continue to give the best coverage in our print and digital products of the things that are important to you.
