Mr. Harry Wayne Benton II, 55, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Alabama.

Mr. Benton, affectionately known as “Spike” to most of his family and customers, proudly served his country with the United States Navy for 8 years, and was fierce in his lifelong patriotism. After his discharge, he went on to found his own embroidery repair company, SewTech. He was a true titan of his industry and innovator. His skills were highly sought after all over the United States, as there was never a machine that he couldn’t repair. Through his loving, generous heart, he was well-known for the excellent care he took of his customers, even providing free advice and work for those in desperate need.

He was also very involved in his community, from being a long-standing board member of the property owners’ association, to his membership with the Highland Home Baptist Church. There was no love higher than his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which led him to become a Gideon so that he could share his testimony with others. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and he served as a fantastic role model for all of them. He was a dedicated family man, and they returned his love just as fiercely. They will find comfort in the numerous cherished memories they made with him over the years, and look forward to the day they get to see him again.
