Mrs. Janice Davis Cohen, 81, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 28, 2020. A private graveside service for Mrs. Cohen will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, Thursday, July 2nd, in Rutledge Cemetery with Rev. Jud Flint officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Cohen enjoyed relaxing by sewing, gardening, and reading. She was well-known as a prayer warrior who loved her Lord with all of her heart. She spent many hours everyday praying over the individual needs of her family and loved ones. She did not have only a surface knowledge of who God is; she knew Him and walked with Him daily. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She has left behind a truly remarkable example for her family to follow.

Mrs. Cohen was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Cohen Sr; parents, Johnny & Inez Roberts Davis; and two siblings, Carolyn Melton and Johnny Royce Davis. She is survived by seven children, John W. (Sharmen) Holstun, Amy H. (Todd) Jenkins, Rebecca (Jud) Flint, Karen (Dana) North, Judy Cohen, David Cohen Jr, and Michael (Sara) Cohen Sr; eleven grandchildren, John (Marita) Gaines, Travis (Kesha) Gaines, Hannah Flint, Danny Holstun, Justin Holstun, Stephanie Holstun, Benjamin Holstun, Kevin (Brittany) North, Chris (Amanda) North, Elizabeth Cohen, and Michael “MAC” Cohen Jr; five great-grandchildren, Lucas & Sophia Gaines and Atlas, Oliver, Elias, & Olivia North; and niece, Beth Melton.

Active pallbearers will be Todd Jenkins, John Gaines, Ryan Gaines, John Holstun, Jarrett Flint, and Matthew Flint. Honorary pallbearers are Morgan King and Alex King.
