Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at East Chapman Church for Joyce Coleen Smith Pierce, 63, of Greenville, who passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, in Montgomery. The Rev. Tracey Stinson officiated.

Joyce was loved by all who knew her well; she was a compassionate woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She was one of those that you never had to guess what was on her mind because she always spoke it. However, she was one of the few genuinely kind people left in this world. She loved and cherished her family.

Joyce was raised in Chapman and loved going to visit Granny McNeil. She loved the outdoors — camping, gardening, fishing and boating — anything outdoors was her sanctuary. She also thoroughly enjoyed cooking and canning.
