A Memorial Celebration of Life Service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Gayle Smith, 71, of Georgiana, who passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21. A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday, Nov. 24.

Her son, Sammy Smith; parents, Marvin and Jewell Bowen; sisters, Glynda Baker, Diane Ledbetter and Sandra Robertson and brothers, Donnie Bowen and Stanley Bowen, preceded Gayle in death.

Survivors include, her husband, Sam Smith Jr. of Georgiana; son, Ricky (Karen) Smith of Georgiana; daughter, Christy (Lane) Strickland of McKenzie; sister, Jane Bowen of Dothan; brother, Tyre (Susan) Bowen of McKenzie; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Shawn) Ramer, Haley Smith and Sammie Strickland and great grandchild, Caden Ramer.
