Mr. Nelson Daughtry, 89, of Greenville, passed away quietly at his home Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at Walnut Street Church of Christ with Min. Charles Box officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Walnut Street Church of Christ.

His parents, Minnie Lee (Money) and John T. (Jack) Daughtry; sister, Lucille Greene, and grandson, Nelson Reid Daughtry, preceded Mr. Daughtry in death.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Nell Law Daughtry; brother, William H. (Bill) Daughtry;  daughter, Jean Daughtry Game (Clifford); son, John F. (Freddie) Daughtry (Linda); grandchildren, Rachel Game Wang (Nick), Lee Game, Sarah Game Nelson (Jake), Emily Daughtry Crawford (Lee) and John F. (Jack) Daughtry (Mallorie); great grandchildren, Heath, Robert (Bo) and Lilly Crawford, Jackson, Deagan and Thomas K. (TK) Daughtry, Theodore T. (Teddy) Wang, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Retha Hilliard.

Mr. Daughtry attended the Walnut St. Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for 29 years, he was employed by Alabama Power (beginning 1948) transferring to Greenville in 1965 where he worked as crew foreman until his retirement in 1994.

After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and baking, showering his friends with gifts of wood, including wooden bowls, hope chests and many other special items. He spent much time in the kitchen preparing baked goods for family and friends, including Dr. Kanu Patel and his staff.

Nelson, Pick, Gene, Ned, Eugene and Pop will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kanu Patel, his office staff, nurses and aids who took such excellent care of their loved one.   Thanks to our church family for the love, visits and support.
