The Greenville City Council continues its efforts to improve industrial development within the Camellia City.

Monday night, David W. Hutchison, executive director for the Butler County Commission for Economic Development, approached the council with another economic opportunity.

“Ozark Logistics came before the council last August when they got into the trucking business,” he said. “At that time, there was a $4 million project with eight jobs and about a $525,000 payroll. Their business continues to grow and now — this is a little bit different than normal — we are amending the one (tax abatement) that was done last August by the direction of the Alabama Department of Revenue.”

According to Hutchison, the amendment involves an additional $7 million investment, six more jobs and $360,000 in payroll

“Their total taxes that will go toward schools over the next 10 years will be $214,000,” he continued. “Their total jobs is 14 and their total payroll is $885,000. This is in addition to 70 jobs that they have at Ozark Materials.”

The council unanimously approved the tax abatement.

According to Ozark officials, the logistics company currently has 152 total employees after expanding in Greenville, Indiana and Texas. The company currently ships to the contiguous 48 states, Hawaii and all of the provinces in Canada.

The first phase of Ozark Logistics included the purchase of 25 18-wheelers last year. This phase will also include 25 18-wheelers — flatbeds, box trucks and tankers — as well as chassis to haul from ports in cargo containers.

Ozark Materials, LLC. is a pavement marking material manufacturer that produces products for all types of roadway applications.
