A man from the Pigeon Creek community in Butler County was arrested earlier this month and may be connected to a series in several counties.

The Greenville Police Department and Butler County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged Chad Goodwin, 36, with multiple counts connected with a series of burglaries in the area on April 10.

According to GPD Chief Justin Lovvorn, the GPD and Butler County Sheriff’s Office have been working together to investigate a series of residential burglaries and thefts that occurred between March 20 and April 7. Greenville police investigated three house burglaries and one trailer burglary during the time frame, and Lovvorn said more than $35,000 in appliances and cabinets were stolen.

Investigators processed each scene and gathered evidence to aid in developing a suspect.  On Monday, law enforcement received a tip in reference to the burglaries and about where the stolen property was located. Investigators from both the Greenville Police Department and Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to the tip. Once at the scene, investigators matched property at that location to property that had been reported stolen in the burglaries. Lovvorn said investigators located a suspect that was in possession of the stolen property and brought him in for questioning.

GPD charged Goodwin with four counts of burglary 3rd, two counts of felony theft of property 2nd, one count of felony theft of property 1st and one count of felony theft of property 3rd.  Butler County also has multiple charges on him and during the investigation it was determined that he may be tied to burglaries and crimes in surrounding areas. Investigators from the Luverne and Troy police departments sent investigators to Greenville and are using evidence recovered by the Greenville PD and Butler County SO to solve crimes that occurred in their jurisdictions. They are expected to place multiple felony charges on the suspect as well.

The investigation is still ongoing and more arrests may be pending.
