As of 8 a.m. south central Mississippi was receiving heavy rain, with that line expected to move slowly into Alabama over the next few hours.

The National Weather Service in Mobile says the storms could include damaging wind gusts with large hail and isolated tornados. Heavy rainfall totals are also possible late today and tonight possibly leading to minor flooding.

A few strong to possibly severe thunderstorms can be expected on Friday. Damaging winds and hail will be the main threats.
