The public is invited to join Butler County Historical & Genealogical Society (BCHGS) members, American Legion representatives and the Fort Dale Chapter, DAR on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11, for an event honoring veterans of all American wars.

The patriotic program will be held at 2 p.m. in the historic Perdue Cemetery in Honoraville on Beach Loop off Steiner Store Road.

The DAR will be placing a flag on the grave of PFC James L. Sampley, one of the 19 Butler County servicemen killed in action, who were honored in July and a Perdue descendant.  A reception will follow at the home of Gloria and Marvin Hartley.

“We have an interesting program planned and hope that everyone will join us on the centennial of the signing of the armistice agreement ending World War I as we recognize and thank our veterans for their service,” Barbara Middleton, BCHGS president and Perdue descendant, said.
